Vic: Suspicious fire at restaurant

Police are investigating a suspicious fire that's damaged a restaurant in Melbourne's east.

Smoke was spotted coming from Toscani's on the Burwood Highway in Upper Ferntree Gully
.. shortly after midnight.

The fire was contained to the rear of the building and crews brought the blaze under
control by 12.45 this morning (AEST).

Police Senior Constable MICHAEL HENRY says the damage bill is estimated to be about
100 thousand dollars.
